Epic Ales Tom

Epic Ales Tom

Brewed with peppercorns!?! Not the same as the one that tasted like fireworks, even though the bottle has fireqworks on it. It's sour and not good.

IPA Showdown: Bear Republic Racer 5 vs Firestone Walker Union Jack

IPA Showdown: Bear Republic Racer 5 vs Firestone Walker Union Jack

Firestone Walker wins this showdown pretty easily. Smoother and less bitter. Racer 5 has a strong grassy pucker at the finish that isn't particularly pleasant.

Maritime Pacific Decompression Ale

Maritime Pacific Decompression Ale

the 2011 Seattle Beer Week brew. All Falconer's Flight hops which are prevalent on first sip. The picture doesn't do justice to the ruby glow. It's a nice beer.

Hair of the Dog Cherry Adam from the Wood

Hair of the Dog Cherry Adam from the Wood

Aged with black cherries in bourbon barrels for 15 months. Fantastic sweetness from the cherries and oh so good! Also pictured: J.W. Lees Harvest Ale 2000.

The Bruery Coton

The Bruery Coton

Holy Moses this beer is doing crazy dances in my mouth. It is 25% aged in bourbon barrels and clocks in at a whopping 14.5%! Aa little bit of pucker and a thick bourbon flavored coating on my tongue. Woo!!!

Mikkeler Chinook Single Hop IPA

Mikkeler Chinook Single Hop IPA

Brewed entirely with Chinook hops. This amber beauty smells and tastes very citrusy. Nice hop flavor that's strong and up front, but doesn't linger much...maybe as it warms up.

Avery Hog Heaven

Avery Hog Heaven

I've had this bottle sitting around for a good few years...maybe 2008? It's a barleywine that tasted like an IPA. lots of hop aroma, but much more mellow than the fresh bottle that I remember.

Brew Dog 5a.m. Saint

Brew Dog 5a.m. Saint

An "iconoclastic amber ale" from Brew Dog in Scotland. My first beer from them. The look and aroma remind me of Mac & Jack's, but the flavor couldn't be more different. Very bubbly and citrusy. Not what I think of for an amber, but still worth trying.

Deschites Mirror Mirror 2009

Deschites Mirror Mirror 2009

From Jer, this bottle escaped the 2009 Deschutes curse and didn't tuurn out sour, although it hasn't mellowed much.

Pike Entire 2009

Pike Entire 2009

Surprisingly it's not gone sour and actually tasted good. Pike surprises me this time. But not likely to stock up in the future.

Widmer Brothers Brrrbon

Widmer Brothers Brrrbon

I'm not very familiar with the regular Brrr. This smells and tastes barrel aged, but not too strongly. It definitely tastes of winter.

Iron Horse 509

Iron Horse 509

With hops from Eastern WAs 509 area code, this is a "fresh local session beer." Not sure if I'm a fan. It is what it is--light, but with some extra hop aroma and flavor, but far from a hop bomb.

Belikin Stout

Belikin Stout

Who'd have thought...a stout in hot weather. It's actually a prettylight beer, which works in the heat, but I doubt I'll have another. The only way to tell it apart from the lager is by the bottle cap.

Belikin Beer

Belikin Beer

Enjoying Belize's national beer, a Belikin lager. Nothing special, but it works in the hot weather!

porter.

It's not so obvious from the pictuure, but this is one copper-colored porter. We brewed it up at Gallaghers in Edmonds for Justins birthday. Tastes fine, but I remember it being darker.
